As BCAN’s Vice President of Development, I have the privilege of working alongside an incredible community of patients, caregivers, advocates, researchers, healthcare professionals, donors, and volunteers. This year was especially meaningful for me because it was my first Walk season with BCAN, and what an introduction it was.

Together, we achieved something remarkable.

A Record-Breaking Year for the Walk to End Bladder Cancer

From coast to coast, thousands of people laced up their walking shoes, shared their stories, honored loved ones and raised critical funds to support everyone affected by bladder cancer.

Thanks to your dedication and generosity, we exceeded our fundraising goal and raised more than $1.76 million during the 2026 Walk to End Bladder Cancer season.

Every dollar raised represents something bigger than a number. It represents hope for patients facing a new diagnosis. It represents support for caregivers navigating difficult days. It represents progress toward better treatments, better outcomes, and ultimately a future without bladder cancer.

Thank You to Our Bladder Cancer Community

One of the things that struck me most during my first Walk season was the incredible strength and compassion of the bladder cancer community.

I met patients who showed up while actively undergoing treatment. Some survivors were celebrating milestones they once feared they might never reach. I met caregivers who continue to stand beside loved ones through every challenge. I also met researchers and healthcare professionals whose work is helping improve the lives of patients every day.

Each Walk had its own personality, but every event shared the same spirit: a commitment to ensuring that no one faces bladder cancer alone.

To everyone who walked, donated, volunteered, served as a team captain, or helped spread awareness, thank you. Your support makes a real difference.

Thank You to Our Sponsors

We are also deeply grateful to our national and local sponsors whose partnership helps make the Walk to End Bladder Cancer possible.

Their support allows us to maximize the impact of every dollar raised and expand the reach of BCAN’s programs and services. We are proud to work alongside organizations that share our commitment to improving the lives of bladder cancer patients and families.

How This Bladder Cancer Fundraiser Supports Patients and Research

The funds raised through the Walk to End Bladder Cancer help fuel BCAN’s mission in meaningful ways.

Your support helps fund innovative bladder cancer research, provides trusted educational resources for patients and caregivers, supports survivorship and peer support programs, advances awareness efforts, and strengthens advocacy initiatives that improve care for those affected by the disease.

Because of you, BCAN can continue investing in the programs and resources that patients and families rely on every day.

What I Learned During My First Walk Season

As I reflect on this experience, one lesson stands out above all others: community matters.

The Walk is about fundraising, but it is also most importantly about building connection and awareness. It is about honoring those we have lost, celebrating survivors, supporting those currently facing bladder cancer and reminding one another that we are stronger together.

Watching people come together in cities across the country reinforced why BCAN’s work is so important and why this community continues to inspire me every day.

What’s Next?

While Walk season has ended, our work continues.

The funds raised this year will help drive research, expand patient support programs, and increase awareness of bladder cancer. We will continue advocating for patients, supporting families, and investing in scientific advances that bring us closer to better treatments and cures.

There are many ways to stay involved throughout the year, whether through volunteering, advocacy, educational programs, support groups, fundraising, or simply sharing BCAN’s mission with others.

We Reached Our Goal Together

This achievement belongs to all of us.

To every walker, donor, volunteer, sponsor, patient, caregiver, advocate, researcher, healthcare professional, family member, and friend: thank you.

Together, we exceeded our goal. Together, we strengthened the bladder cancer community. And together, we are helping create a future filled with more hope, more progress, and more lives changed.

I cannot wait to see what we accomplish next.

With gratitude,

Christina Todosow
