As we welcome Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, I feel a deep sense of gratitude and optimism. Each May, our community comes together with renewed energy to support patients, uplift caregivers, and advance awareness that can truly save lives. Whether you are newly diagnosedsupporting a loved one, or advocating for change, you are part of something powerful. At the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network, we are inspired every day by the strength and resilience of this community. This month is not only about awareness. It is about connection, creativity and action.

A Month to Take Action and Show Support

Bladder Cancer Awareness Month is a time to come together and make a visible impact. Across the country, individuals and families are raising their voices, sharing their stories and helping others better understand this disease.

There are many ways to get involved:

Celebrating Healing Through Creativity

One of the most meaningful ways we see our community express strength is through art. Creativity can be a powerful outlet for processing emotions, building resilience and connecting with others who understand the journey.

This year, I invite you to explore our Art as Therapy initiative. It showcases powerful works created by members of the bladder cancer community. Each piece tells a story of courage, hope, and healing.

Take a moment to experience it here. You may find inspiration, comfort, or even the courage to share your own story.

Honoring Those Who Inspire Us

Every community has individuals who go above and beyond to support others. Our Beacon of Hope Award is an opportunity to recognize those who make a lasting difference in the lives of bladder cancer patients and families.  Learn more about the nominees who have been selected by their communities and cast your vote by May 15.

Thank You to Our Walk Participants

To everyone participating in a Walk to End Bladder Cancer this year, thank you. Your commitment helps raise awareness, fund critical programs, and build a sense of unity across our community.

These events are more than fundraisers. They are moments of connection, remembrance and hope. Whether you are walking in honor of someone, in memory or as a survivor, you are making a difference.  If you would like to join or support a walk, you can learn more here.

Small Actions, Big Impact

You do not have to do something large to make a meaningful contribution. Even small actions can create ripple effects:

Together, these actions build a stronger, more informed and more compassionate community.

A Personal Note of Gratitude and Hope

As CEO of BCAN, I am continually inspired by the people who make up this community. Your courage, generosity and willingness to stand together are what drive progress forward.

This month, let us continue to lift each other up, amplify important voices and move closer to a future where bladder cancer is detected earlier, treated more effectively and ultimately cured.

Thank you for being part of this mission.
