As stated on the AUA’s web site, this award was established to recognize the contributions and accomplishments of APPs in the field of urology. This award is presented annually to an AUA member in recognition of their strong leadership skills and outstanding patient care in the field of urology.

BCAN’s CEO, Andrea Maddox-Smith, said “Having collaborated with Mary for years, it is wonderful to see her hard work recognized with this award.” She added, “We are so grateful to her work on behalf of bladder cancer patients.”

Mary has been involved with BCAN through the North Carolina Triangle Chapter where she serves as secretary and helps plan the annual local Walk to End Bladder Cancer. The most recent program she helped develop with the chapter is a $500 Patient Assistance Grant, which aims to aid patients with bladder cancer who need financial support.
