BCAN is Celebrating 20 Years of Community Impact

A Journey of Hope and Progress

As we celebrate Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network’s 20th anniversary, we reflect on two decades of unwavering commitment to the bladder cancer community. Since our founding in 2005, BCAN has sought to be a beacon of hope, bringing together patients, survivors, families, researchers, medical professionals, policy advocates, and volunteers. At the time, we couldn’t imagine how much stronger our community would make us.

20 Years of Impact in the BCAN Community

Together, we have built a powerful community that has transformed lives and driven significant advancements in understanding and treating bladder cancer and supporting patients, survivors, and families.

Moving forward, we are committed to working with our community for better todays and more tomorrows for everyone impacted by bladder cancer.

2005 to 2025: A Commitment to Better Todays

We know that when we come together to educate people about bladder cancer and provide educational resources and support for patients, families, medical professionals, and researchers, we can help make each day a little better for all involved.

20 Years of… Growth and Community Support

Our journey has been marked by a profound sense of purpose, nurtured by the invaluable gift of community. Over the past 20 years, we have nurtured an environment where people feel empowered to share their experiences, support one another, and collaborate in the quest for better treatments and outcomes, for better todays. Our community’s strength lies in its diversity; each voice adds a unique thread to the fabric of our collective narrative.

20 Years of… Accessible Education and Resources

Education has always been at the forefront of our mission. From the first signs and symptoms of bladder cancer to the complexities of treatment options, we strive to provide accessible and trustworthy information. The number of resources we have shared has grown in proportion to our growing community. Each download represents not just a number but a story, a lifeline for someone seeking guidance in a difficult moment.

The evolution of our educational resources, from printed materials to online support groups and webinars, is a living commitment to ensuring that no one faces this journey alone. We are proud to have witnessed friendships grow through shared struggles and triumphs, reminding us that together, we are stronger.

2005 to 2025: A Journey Toward More Tomorrows

Building on our work to make each day better for our bladder cancer community, we are paving the path toward more tomorrows for bladder cancer patients. Our research initiatives, funding, and support enable a better understanding of bladder cancer and more effective treatment options. Our policy advocacy work ensures that bladder cancer patients and their families have the resources and support they need to heal and that researchers and medical professionals have the funding to advance research and care options.

20 Years of… Advancements in Research

When we look back at the research landscape of 2005, the advancements made over the years are truly remarkable. BCAN has helped to create a culture of collaboration in the bladder cancer research arena, encouraging doctors and scientists to work together to improve patient outcomes. Through our research grants, we have played a pivotal role in supporting and driving research that leads to innovative treatments and improved quality of life.

20 Years of… Advocacy and Policy Change

Since the beginning, we have been a champion for increased federal funding for bladder cancer research. Our advocacy has helped shape key policies, ensuring that the voices of those impacted by bladder cancer are heard and prioritized. These changes not only influence funding but also reflect our dedication to a better future for all impacted by the disease.

Every piece of legislation we fight for is a testament to the power of our community’s advocacy. We have collectively shone a spotlight on critically-needed changes, ensuring that the challenges faced by patients and families are acknowledged and addressed.

20 Years of Impact: The Power of Our BCAN Community

20 years of impact are made possible by the diverse voices within our community. Every story shared by a survivor lights a torch of hope for others. Every collaboration between patients and researchers sparks progress. Every advocacy effort amplifies the message that we are in this together.

As we reflect on the last two decades, we recognize that our light has only grown stronger. The hope we share fuels our collective journey toward better todays and more tomorrows for everyone impacted by bladder cancer.
