Announcing BCAN 2021 Young Investigator Awards

The Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) is pleased to announce two early-career investigator awards for 2021:

  • Bladder Cancer Young Investigator Award to support the development of outstanding early-career research scientists and clinical cancer research investigators who have demonstrated a commitment to improving the understanding and treatment of bladder cancer and/or upper tract urothelial cancer research. At the time of submission, the applicant must be within six years following completion of a professional degree such as MD, DO, PhD, MD-PhD, MPH, or equivalent or clinical training such as residency or fellowship.
  • Patient-Centered Clinical Research Young Investigator Award to support early-career researchers investigating transformational patient-oriented clinical bladder cancer research (e.g. studies of shared decision making, access to care, quality of care, quality of life, health disparities, comparative effectiveness research, patient-centered outcomes research, and survivorship.) At the time of submission, the applicant must be within six years following completion of a professional degree such as MD, DO, PhD, MD-PhD, MPH, MS, DNP, DScPAS or equivalent or clinical training such as residency or fellowship.

We are pleased to offer a total of four awards to outstanding early-career investigators who will strive for improved outcomes for bladder cancer patients on many levels,” said Andrea Maddox-Smith, Chief Executive Officer of BCAN. “Thanks to the support of our generous donors, we are investing in the next generation of bladder cancer researchers who share our goal of working towards a world without bladder cancer.”

These awards provide $50,000 to support one year of research. Interested applicants must submit a Research Proposal by 5:00 PM (EST) on February 16, 2021, and should review the full 2021 award guidelines for eligibility, and application requirements below:
