Rick Bangs

Rick Bangs, MBA/PMP, is the host of BCAN’s popular Bladder Cancer Matters podcast. He is a survivor of muscle invasive bladder cancer, the proud owner of a 2006 model year neobladder, and a prostate cancer survivor. He has worked as a patient advocate in a variety of roles, including research advocacy, government lobbying, educational support, support groups, one-on-one support, and fundraising. 

He serves as the Bladder and Penile Cancer Patient Advocate for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), a CPRIT advocate reviewer, and as a Patient Advocate on ASCO and AUA Guideline Panels. He was the former chair of the SWOG patient advocate committee, SWOG bladder cancer patient advocate, co-chair of the NCI patient advocate steering committee, NCI cancer care delivery research steering committee patient advocate, and NCI genitourinary cancer steering committee patient advocate. He also Stand Up to Cancer including the associated NCI Epigenetics SPORE. He is a retired Marketing and IT professional.

Rick has his Master of Business Administration in Marketing, Finance and Accounting from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and his Bachelor of Science, Chemistry and Economics from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
