Cara Schmitt, MS

Research Program Officer

Cara is a nonprofit research and patient advocacy leader with more than 15 years of experience developing and managing scientific research programs for national health organizations. Prior to joining BCAN, she led research initiatives for the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders, Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, and the Epilepsy Foundation. She earned a Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Binghamton University.

Cara plays a key role in advancing the Bladder Sparing Therapy Registry (BLAST) project and leads project management and oversight, including coordination with vendors, participating sites, the study steering committee and industry funders as the study moves toward activation and enrollment. Cara also contributes to the development of future research initiatives aligned with BCAN’s strategic priorities.
