John C. Quale

John C. Quale, co-founder and inspiration for BCAN, died of bladder cancer on June 29, 2008. Initially diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2000, John was a nationally acclaimed communications attorney, a dedicated runner, an avid cyclist, and a loving and much beloved family man and friend.

With his wife, Diane Zipursky Quale, John founded BCAN in May 2005, to shine light on bladder cancer. They recognized the urgent need to understand the disease better and to advocate for improvement in prevention, detection and treatment. John fought the disease with great courage, strength and dignity, while always maintaining his eternal optimism and love of life.
