Peter Clark, MD

Dr. Clark received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Cornell University and went on to complete his medical degree at Harvard Medical School. He completed his urologic residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and subsequently did his urologic oncology fellowship training at the University of Southern California. He is a Professor and Chair, Department of Urology, Carolinas HealthCare System Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Clark has an active clinical practice focused primarily on bladder and kidney cancer as well as an active basic science laboratory studying the role of MAPK’s and canonical Wnt signaling on kidney and bladder oncogenesis. He serves as the Co-Director for the NIDDK sponsored Vanderbilt Center for Benign Urologic Diseases. He currently is Chair of the bladder cancerguidelines panel for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and is a member of superficial bladder cancer and the small renal mass guidelines panels for the American Urologic Association (AUA). He is serving as the representative for the Southeast Section of the AUA to the Research Council and is on the editorial board for several prestigious journals including the Journal of Urology and UROLOGY. He is also an active member of both the Society of Urologic Oncology, where he is chair of the Fellowship Committee, and the Society of Basic Urologic Research, where he is a Member at Large. He is on the Executive Board for the Society of University Urologists, is a representative for Tennessee to the Southeastern Section of the AUA, and he has recently joined the examination committee for the American Board of Urology. He has over 145 publications in both the clinical and basic sciences the vast majority focused on urologic oncology.
