Bladder Cancer Cases Expected to Rise in 2025, ACS Reports

The American Cancer Society (ACS) has released its annual Cancer Facts and Figures report, providing new projections for cancer diagnoses and mortality in the coming year. In 2025, an estimated 84,870 individuals across the United States will be diagnosed with bladder cancer, and 17,420 lives are expected to be lost to the disease.

Bladder cancer remains a significant health concern, ranking as the seventh-most common cancer overall and the third most frequently diagnosed cancer among men. The ACS report predicts a 2.2% overall increase in bladder cancer cases in 2025. The anticipated rise is particularly concerning for men, with a projected 3.1% increase, while cases among women are expected to decline by 1.6%.

Meri-Margaret Deoudes, CEO of the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN), emphasized the importance of continued efforts to combat the disease. “Despite the projected increase in new bladder cancer cases, our vision remains unchanged—to create more and better tomorrows for all those impacted by bladder cancer by advancing research and providing essential support to patients and their loved ones.”

To support those impacted by bladder cancer, BCAN offers a wealth of resources on its website, including a state-by-state breakdown of bladder cancer statistics for 2025. In addition, individuals can access details about treatment centers affiliated with the National Cancer Institute, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, and the Veterans Administration, as well as explore clinical trial opportunities available across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Reflecting on the human impact behind the statistics, Deoudes added, “These numbers are not just data points—they represent real people, families, and communities. As long as bladder cancer continues to impact even one person, BCAN will remain committed to advocating for better outcomes for patients and those who love them.”
