BCAN Richmond Chapter

The Richmond Chapter of BCAN was formed by individuals whose lives have been touched and greatly impacted by bladder cancer. Although bladder cancer is the 6thmost commonly diagnosed form of cancer, there still remains a shockingly low level of awareness. Bladder cancer has a recurrence rate of 50-80%, yet many of us had never heard of this terrible disease until it personally affected our lives.  We soon recognized that a voice was needed for this form of cancer.

Being that this is a below-the-belt type of cancer, many people stray away from talking about it.  We strongly believe that NOW is the time to start talking about bladder cancer. We want to eliminate hearing, “I’ve never heard of bladder cancer” by making sure that our family, friends, and community are aware of the signs and symptoms of bladder cancer.  Knowledge + Awareness + Prevention = Keys to saving someone’s life!
