Female Focus Support Group by BCAN

What You Need to Know

Bladder cancer impacts thousands of women each year, yet it’s often diagnosed later than in men, leading to poorer outcomes.

Every month, BCAN hosts an online Female Focus Support Group to talk about topics unique to women facing bladder cancer. Female Focus brings women impacted by bladder cancer together to connect with others who understand and share similar experiences. From diagnosis and treatment to recovery and survivorship, it’s a place to find support, share experiences, and navigate the journey together.

All sessions are moderated by BCAN staff, nurse and BCAN Board member Karen Sachse, RN, MSN, and social worker Miriam Pomerantz Kadosh, MSW, LCSW. On occasions, some sessions will feature a guest speaker. This group meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 7:00–8:30pm ET.

You must register for each session you want to attend.

What to Expect

  • Sessions are virtual.
  • Each session starts with a welcome and a brief presentation.
  • Participants are then divided into small groups.
  • The small groups are moderated by a BCAN representative. The small groups enable participants to share their experiences in a supportive and respectful space.
  • The small groups are not organized by diversion, type of diagnosis, or treatment type.
  • Participants are encouraged, but not required, to participate in the discussions.
