Aleena Ahmed

Communications and Marketing Manager

Aleena Ahmed is the Communications and Marketing Manager for the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network. She was previously a proofreader and copy editor for Barton Cotton Graphics Inc., in Baltimore, Maryland.

She completed her bachelor’s in English from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and went on to attend graduate school at Towson University where she earned a Masters of Science in Communications Management.

In this role, she is responsible for managing BCAN social media communities, assisting the Director of Communications and Marketing and creating compelling content for BCAN’s digital media platforms amongst other duties.

Her interest in BCAN sparked through having spent years collaborating with the Encephalitis Foundation Inc., where the organization works with both patients and caregivers to raise awareness for a rare disease known as ANTI- NMDA Receptor Encephalitis. Aleena herself was diagnosed with encephalitis when she was just 19 and was fortunate enough to be able to overcome the disease and recovered safely. Ever since, she has made it one of her goals to be an advocate for patients and their loved ones.
