Beverly James

Beverly James became a patient advocate and involved with BCAN when her husband, Greg, was diagnosed with metastatic bladder cancer in May 2012 and died September 2013.  She is concerned with encouraging research and ensuring that all bladder cancer patients receive the best information possible concerning their disease and care.

Beverly received a BS degree from Southern Illinois University and is a retired educator having taught for 27 years both in Illinois and South Carolina.  She created and implemented curriculum for kindergarten through second grade which was used district wide in Beaufort County, South Carolina.  Beverly also was instrumental in the development of the curriculum and the accreditation for the first International Baccalaureate Program in an elementary school in the United States.

Beverly is active in the American Association of University Women having served on the board of the local branch and as treasurer and president of SC AAUW.
