Maxwell V. Meng, MD

Dr. Maxwell Meng is professor of urology, chief of urologic oncology, and director of the urologic oncology fellowship at the University of California San Francisco.  He completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard College and received his medical degree at Johns Hopkins.  He obtained his urologic training at the University of California San Francisco, where he also completed fellowships in both minimally invasive surgery and urologic oncology.

His areas of interest include the application of minimally invasive techniques to urologic oncology, including bladder cancer, as well as outcomes research and health-related quality of life in patients with cancer.  He has been involved in research and clinical trials regarding the development of novel therapeutic interventions for bladder cancer, such as agents targeting telomerase and an oncolytic vector expressing GM-CSF.

He has published over 110 peer reviewed scientific papers and16 books chapters, and served as editor of one book.  He is an Associate Editor of Urologic Oncology:  Seminars and Original Investigations and is actively involved in the American Urologic Association, Society of Urologic Oncology, American College of Surgeons, and Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology.
