Emeritus Member | Steven Wong, MD

Dr. Wong is an assistant professor of medicine in the division of hematology oncology at the UCLA Medical Center. He received his medical degree from UCLA School of Medicine, and completed his internship and residency at UCLA.  Dr. Wong also was a fellow in medical oncology at UCLA.

Dr. Wong has been  involved in the important research study in breast cancer identifying the her2 gene as an important molecule in the pathogenesis of some breast cancers. This ultimately led to a new treatment called Herceptin which has made a dramatic improvement in the quality of life as well as survival in those pts with her2 metastatic breast cancer.

Dr. Wong now focuses a large portion of his practice and research in genitourinary malignancies including bladder, testes and prostate. He attends numerous genitourinary cancer conferences and interacts with leaders worldwide. He is actively involved in research studying bladder cancer cell lines to better understand heterogeneity as well identifying new treatment targets. Dr. Wong participates in many of the clinical research studies at UCLA and is project investigator and subinvestigator for majority of the clinical studies.
