Andrea Maddox-Smith

As CEO for the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN), Andrea brings more than 20 years of experience within the voluntary health space and 30 years as a non-profit impact leader.  Since joining BCAN in 2016, Andrea has transformed the organization’s approach, structure and focus and has helped to better the lives of bladder cancer patients.

Andrea is an expert in leading patient organizations to achieve changes in policy, stakeholder engagement, capacity building and research.  Andrea is passionate about her work at BCAN and states “I’m deeply inspired by the many volunteers and donors who give so generously of their time and treasure and I’m honored to serve in this important role”.

Prior to being named CEO of BCAN, Andrea served 16 years in various leadership roles for the American Diabetes Association (ADA).  In her most recent role as Senior Vice President, she managed the Association’s mission, operations and integrated strategy to achieve its impact goals in the eastern region.  Her notable accomplishments also include establishing the first nationwide account management framework that resulted in significant improvements in organizational efficiency across multiple fundraising and program platforms.  Andrea started her career with Junior Achievement which she credits for the on-the-ground training she received in building brand awareness and optimizing on revenue diversification.
