Sam Chang, MD

Dr. Chang received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed an internship in general surgery and residencies in general surgery and urologic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, as well as a fellowship in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City where he was named Chief Fellow.

In 2005, Dr. Chang was the first ever recipient of the Distinguished Service Award of the Society of Urologic Oncology, and in 2007 was named a Best Reviewer by The Journal of Urology.   Dr. Chang is an investigator for the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group, and a member of the AUA Exam Committee, American Association for Cancer Research, the American Urological Association, the Society of Urologic Oncology, and the American Association of Clinical Urologists, Inc.

He is the Chairman of the AJCC GU Staging Task Force responsible for prognostic staging assignments for all urologic cancers.  He was the Vice Chairman of the American Urologic Association Guidelines Panel on Non Invasive Bladder Cancer that were recently published in 2007.  He continues to serve on the Executive Board of the Society of Urologic Oncology.

Dr. Chang has been involved with numerous clinical trials as either a principal investigator or a subinvestigator that involve bladder cancer at different stages. He has authored more than 150 publications involving different urologic cancers.
